July: The Bay Bolete continues fruiting.

Edible, but requires checking for individual intolerance. Very popular mushroom among foragers. Used in home cooking both fresh and dried.
Grows in coniferous and mixed forests. Cap is reddish or chestnut brown with smooth surface.
Collect in coniferous and mixed forests from July to October Choose young and firm mushrooms without damage
Avoid old and worm-eaten mushrooms. Handle carefully to avoid damaging the mycelium.
Clean from forest debris and rinse. Remove damaged and soft parts. Used fresh or dried after cooking.
Cap: Frying, boiling, drying
Stem: Tough, can be used for broths

Slice caps and fry with onions
1. Clean and slice caps.
2. Fry in butter with onions until golden brown.
3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
