Poisonous, do not consume. Valued for taste and aroma. Known in Europe as an edible and tasty mushroom.
Cap 5–15 cm, velvety, light brown with fine scales. Stem with distinct ring, light and firm.
Grows in mixed and coniferous forests, often under pines and firs Found from July to October
Best to collect young, firm mushrooms with intact caps. Pay attention to the ring on the stem — a distinctive feature.
Clean from forest debris with a soft brush. Suitable for frying, drying, and pickling. Do not consume.
Cap: Firm, velvety, light brown
