July: The common dace is active, feeding during the day, moving with the current.

Not aggressive. Used in folk cuisine as an addition to soup or stew. Considered a “clean water” indicator in some regions.
Prefers muddy bottoms of calm rivers and lakes. Feeds on small invertebrates and detritus.
